The Cornerstone Colosseum is a typical "amp like" 2-channel pedal. This is based on the legendary circuits of the Marshall BluesBreaker and the Klon Centaur. Developed in collaboration with the community that follows the brand on social networks, the Colosseum takes up the design of these two pedals, adding more versatility and interaction.
Externally, the pedal adopts an elegant "antique white" case. It is 100% machined "in house", from cutting to drilling. We are in the usual "boutique", with very good quality PCBs, selected components and a pedal that will take the worst treatment. 2 channels (c Klon anal on the left, BB channel on the right) , 1 Gain, 1 Volume, 1 Tone per channel with 1 central toggle switch to reverse the order of the channels. A Clean mini-knob allows you to adjust the mix between the dry signal put in parallel and the effect, as on the Gladio SC. This recovers dynamics and headroom. Finally, a second mini-knob adjusts the balance between a 1N34A diode and 2 silicon diodes. The pedal has 2 inputs and 2 outputs to be able to use the two channels as 2 pedals independent or as a single pedal. Channels which can of course be combined.
The concept of the Colosseum is a J-Mayer-Like pedal that we will not hesitate to stack on a Two-Rock amp or an excellent clean channel to obtain the quintessence of this one.
Once connected with an ES-335 type guitar, the Klon slice is activated first. Immediately we recognize this characteristic high-medium of these pedals. Ideally, we will use it more as a mid-boost than OD really. It allows you to thicken the sound and pass through the mix, whether to magnify a clean sound or to add harmonics to a drive. On the BB slice, we naturally have more gain and a strong Marshall JTM side. By combining the two, we obtain a fluid drive, typically in "John Mayer", Larry Carlton and other Robben Ford. We greatly appreciate the clean knob which allows you to maintain an excellent attack, as well as the possibility of changing the order of the slices.
Whether on a clean channel or stacked on another pedal or existing drive, the Cornerstone Colosseum is a real Swiss army knife that allows you to cover a very wide range of sounds within a single box. Used alongside another OD or Boost, you can play everything from jazz to classic rock and fusion to blues. An excellent pedal!
